I’ve been meaning to get this review in for quite a while, but when you’re trying to get your redhead in and out of the store quickly, well, that opportunity comes and goes. This product is one that I used multiple times a day, and it’s held up great. The Floppy Seat Ultra Push shopping cart cover has been a breeze to own and use. I started using it as soon as Red could sit up by himself, which was six months on the dot. (nearly the same day as he got his first tooth!)
I bought it myself from BabiesRUs, as it was the only store in the region that carried the print I wanted. This black and white print is called “Licorice Symphony”. I chose it because it hides dirt, washes well, and surprisingly, doesn’t show all the dog hair that gets all over us on a daily basis.
The seat cover fits over any standard grocery cart, but also fits easily over the double carts you find at Costco and Sams club. Even the deep Target carts have nothing on this thing. It helps to prevent Red from getting ikky and germy from the seats, and provides me with a nice hand rail cover, too. Although it’s large enough to cover large carts, the floppy seat works wonders as a high chair cover, as well. I squirm whenever I see those grimy high chairs at restaurants, especially the wooden ones that are scarred and have germs growing in the slats.
Floppy Seat to the rescue… It’s machine washable AND dryable. Simply click the seat belt together and toss it in. I’ve washed it about twice a month, and it still looks great. The white faded slightly when first washed, but it’s nothing to complain about. All the way around the front of the seat, you will find looped and reinforced trim to attach links and toys to. Works great with toy and sippy cup leashes. Each loop is about 3-4″ in length.
There are also side inner pocket for treasures and toys by Red’s side. The inside seat portion of the cover is black, soft plush (as is read in the name of the product). It doesn’t collect dirt, easily shakes out, and is really soft for your little one. The washing and drying of such hasn’t affected the texture. The seat belt is meant to weave behind at least one slat of the cart for safety, but I rarely get to that. In fact, I’ll buckle him to the cover when it’s taught on the cart and that’s it. I make sure never to walk away from him in the cart – that’s a no brainer.
Retail price for the cover is $49.99, but these things go on sale often, or there are coupons available. I only paid $39 for mine, and it was well worth the full price if I had paid it. Lastly, the cover comes with a small messenger bag for storage, and easily folds crams into the bag. I was surprised how easily if stores, flaps over and velcros shut. Like – EASY. Other models have a bag installed that folds in on itself.
Would I buy it again? In a heartbeat.
If I ever see someone has registered for it, YES – easy gift purchase!
