“Gumbo, Gumbo, in the pot! We need a Princess. WHAT YOU GOT?!” – Mama Odie, The Princess & The Frog. To me, Mama Odie is everything positive, soul-searching, joyous and self-confident. When I went “shopping” in my own closet looking for a Princess and the Frog look, I was so excited to land on a Mama Odie Disneybound! I wore this during Mardi Gras 2019, and had a fun reaction on Instagram!
Mama Odie Disneybound Pieces
Grab this white or cream maxi dress from Lulus. It’s under $100 and flows like a dream. I had to have mine hemmed since I’m a shorty!
Next, a white sheer scarf wraps around your head or hair to mimic Mama Odie’s headwear.
Dark lens Sunglasses are a must!
Lastly, you’ll want a gold bib necklace inspired by Mama Odie’s necklace. Her is a true collar, but if you find one like I used in my Black Panther Disneybound, you can use it again!
Bonus points if you get a Stuffed Snake like JuJu to accompany you!
You can wear this look to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party if the dress hem is off the ground, and what fun it would be to head to Princess Fairytale Hall and see Tiana! Now that’s a Photopass picture you can treasure. If you have a trunk or treat to plan, wouldn’t it be fun to grb a ton of stuffed animals and christmas lights to decorate your trunk? A giant pot and spoon stand-in for Mama Odie’s gumbo while your car speakers pump out “Dig a Little Deeper!” The kiddos will flock to dance and choose a piece of candy from your gumbo pot. After all, Mama Odie is a joyous woman that really knows what you need… that’s the key!
Find some of my other Disneybound costumes like Mad Madam Mim, Darla and even Captain Marvel in my Disneybound Category! Which Disney style look will you choose this season!?
